Today is all about creating a winner blog strategy!

As you may have noticed already we love to talk about creating content (especially blogging) and using it as one of the primary marketing tools for businesses.

We’ve explained this before but when you create quality content that resonates with your audience you:

  • Establish yourself as an expert in your niche

  • Build trust with your audience

  • Get found online (without paid ads!)

If you’re here you probably already decided that you want to start using your blog as a marketing tool, but probably you don’t know where and how to start. Or maybe, you’ve been blogging for a while but you haven’t seen results from your hard work.

Sometimes blogging can be super frustrating, that’s why we decided to create a list with 10 helpful tips to create a winner blog strategy. Let’s dive into it…

10 Tips to Create a Winner Blog Strategy

10 Tips to Create a Winner Blog Strategy

1. Develop A Long-Term Strategy

This was the best thing we could have done for our business, planning in the long term gave us the peace of mind we needed to post regularly on our blog. For this, we came up with a content planner to help us organize and schedule our content and you can use it as well (download it here).

By planning ahead you will also have the time to think and plan strategically. Having a strategy will also help you create content that will resonate with the marketing campaigns you’re running. For example, if you know that you’re launching a new product or service next month you can share a blog post that gives more information about what you’re launching.

2. Batch Working

Batch working can be one of the best time savers in your business. As you already know, blogging can be time-consuming, so you have to save time where it’s possible.

If you never heard the words “batch working”, it’s actually a very simple method to do all the similar tasks at the same time. When you batch work you group similar tasks together, and do them before starting a different task.

So, rather than creating the blog post from start to finish, you can group the tasks as follow: planning, writing, editing, taking photos or creating graphics, and posting/scheduling. This system will allow you to create content in bulk, and thus help you become more efficient as you’re not switching constantly from task to task.

3. Write Ideas Down

We’re talking about blogging but this tip can be applied to every aspect of your business and even your personal life. Remember that idea that you had while walking your dog? No? That’s exactly what we’re talking about!

You never know when you will have a great idea. So, to make sure you don’t lose any of your best ideas, write all your ideas down (we mean ALL of them) because you never know what that idea can lead to.

4. Post helpful and quality content

We love to use our blog for sharing about our design projects, and past work but the majority of what we post is to provide our audience helpful information, tips & tricks, and step-by-step tutorials.

Sharing your knowledge about topics that are relevant and interesting to your audience, establishes yourself as an expert in your niche, and builds trust with potential clients.

Sharing helpful and quality content demonstrates that you’re knowledgeable about that topic, so next time someone has a question they will probably come to you for advice or even buy/hire from/you.

5. Write About Topics Your Audience Is Interested In

Writing about topics your audience wants to learn before buying your products or hiring your services is one of the best ways to convert readers into paying clients.

When coming up with blog content think about what people might be searching for before they decide to spend their $$$ with you. If you’ve been blogging for a while another great tip to find out what your audience is interested in is to check your analytics to find out which topics perform best and write more content about that.

6. Optimize For SEO

We feel that we’re constantly writing about SEO, but we simply cannot stop because it’s SO important to drive organic traffic to your website.

We suspect that you don’t want to be wasting your time and efforts for your blog posts to never be found online, so you need to come up with very searchable blog posts. When you’re thinking about a blog post title, think about what you would search on Google to find that information you’re looking for.

Not only the title but also the actual content of the blog post should be SEO optimized, the goal of optimizing for SEO is to be found online organically. If you want to learn more about SEO check this blog post.

7. Create Categories

Before starting with the actual content creation think about 3 to 6 categories you could organize your blog posts under. With categories, not only your blog will look much more organized but this will help your readers to find more content you’ve shared in similar categories.

While deciding the categories you want your blog to have, make them broad enough that other different topics can fit under those categories. If you’re interested, we talk about this in more detail in our content planner - download it here.

8. Simplify Your Content

Because we’re constantly bombarded with new information the attention timespan of people, in general, has decreased significantly in the past few years.

By producing and sharing very simple content will give your visitors motivation to click on your blog post instead of one of your competitors. Think about this blog post title, “10 Tips to Create a Winner Blog Strategy” it couldn’t be more simple! This is not only good for your audience but for you as well. Simple content is easier for you to write, and easier for your audience to read and understand.

9. Link To Other Content On Your Website

You probably already noticed that we do this all the time in our blog posts. Linking to other content boosts your SEO score and keeps people on your website.

From an SEO perspective, when you link to other content within your website Google sees your website as a powerful website and consequently ranks it better in search results. From the perspective of people landing on your website, linking to your other pages or content keeps them engaged.

10. Repurpose Content

Once you have a piece of content created, you can use the information in numerous ways. The juicier the content you produce is the more ways you can repurpose it and use it.

You can use the information shared on the blog post on your social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.). You can create graphics, videos, reels, checklists, etc, and use them on social media. Not only does this save you time but also drives traffic to your blog!
